BiographyJean-Pierre Darroussin first experiences theatre in high school. He enters the National Drama Academy and joins the Compagnie du Chapeau Rouge with Catherine Frot. After a short appearance in Hothead by Jean-Jacques Annaud, he stars in three comedies in 1981 then in Our Story by Bertrand Blier. In 1989, Jean-Pierre Darroussin is Dany, a disconcerting beatnik in Mes meilleurs copains.
Robert Guédiguian’s fetish actor who directs him in no less than nine films, he also frequently works with the Bacri/Jaoui duet.
Popular actor, Jean-Pierre Darroussin gets first roles in the 90’ and cheerfully performs comic part as in Frenchmen by Marc Esposito as well as more serious character (Le Poulpe by Guillaume Nicloux) and alternates arthouse films (Red Lights by Cédric Kahn) and more commercial movies (A Very Long Engagement by Jean-Pierre Jeunet).
In 2005, he stars in How Much Do You Love Me? by Bertrand Blier and has just finished Le Pressentiment, his first film as a director.
