The 12th French Film Festival, hosted by the cultural section of the French Embassy and the Irish Film Institute with support from uniFrance Films, will be held in Dublin from November 16 to 27, 2011.
A key annual event for French cinema enthusiasts in Ireland, this year's French Film Festival presents an outstanding program featuring 21 Irish premieres and a large guest list including the actors Jean-Pierre Darroussin and Sandrine Kiberlain, directors Yves Caumon, Claude Miller, and Philippe Ramos, and film critics Michel Ciment and Luce Vigo.
This year's lineup includes many films selected at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, including Pater by Alain Cavalier, Declaration of War by Valérie Donzelli, and The Kid With a Bike by the Dardenne brothers.
The festival will also showcase a selection of films by new generation French filmmakers, a special tribute to Claude Miller (held in his presence), and a retrospective of winners of the Jean Vigo Prize featuring an exclusive screening of this year's recipient Smugglers, held in the presence of the film critic and daughter of Jean Vigo, who is this year's jury president.
