Biography

Mathieu Amalric starts his career on screen by chance following his encounter with Otar Iosseliani in 1984 and Favorites of the Moon. He then links up films as technician at first then as director assistant on Goodbye, Children by Louis Malle.
A rich actor career starts with Diary of a Seducer by Danièle Dubroux in 1996, and he now woks with confirmed directors such as André Téchiné, Olivier Assayas, Jean-Claude Biette or the Larrieu Brothers.
In the same time, he directs short films, and his first feature Public Affairs is in competition at the Director’s Fortnight 2003.
More and more involved in direction, he still often works as an actor and his last film Kings and Queen wins him the Best Actor César Award in 2005.
Among Mathieu Amalric last productions: La Moustache by Emmanuel Carrère and J’ai vu tuer Ben Berka by Serge Le Péron.
