Also known as the French Cinepanorama, this popular festival will open its 46th edition on November 22, offering audiences a selection of 35 recent French feature films.
This year, four directors and one actor will make the trip to Hong Kong for the event: Cédric Klapisch and Ana Girardot to represent Back to Burgundy, Étienne Comar for Django, Michel Hazanavicius for Redoubtable, and Claire Denis for Bright Sunshine In.
This long festival (running from November 22 through December 10 this year) is held in several theaters across the city. The AMC Pacific Place will host the opening ceremony, which features a screening of Back to Burgundy held in the presence of the film's director and lead actor, following the duo's trip to South Korea, where they took part in the French Cinema Tour, and Singapore, where Back to Burgundy was presented at the Singapore French Film Festival.
In addition to the lineup of recent films, the program includes a retrospective of Jean-Pierre Melville, a mini-panorama of works from the French New Wave, and a selection of short films.
Michel Hazanavicius and Cédric Klapisch will each give a master class at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
