The opening ceremony of the 11th Yokohama French Film Festival was held Thursday, June 19, at 7 p.m. in the main theater devoted to the event, presided by Vincent Perez, with a delegation of 44 French artists in attendance.
After welcoming speeches by the Mayor of Yokohama, Hiroshi Nakada, and the French Ambassador in Japan, Bernard de Montferrand, Unifrance President Margaret Menegoz and director Benoît Jacquot paid tribute to Daniel Toscan du Plantier, before a full house of 1,000 Japanese spectators.
Margaret Menegoz and Vincent Perez then called the artistic delegation to the stage, introducing them in order of films screened at this 11th Festival: Michel Alexandre, Alexandre Brasseur and Stéphan Archinard (short films), Bernard Rapp, Guillaume Canet, Philippe Lefèbvre, Clotilde Courau, Michel Blanc, Vincent Elbaz, Marc Esposito, Bernard Campan, Nicolas Philibert, Valéria Bruni Tedeschi, Danièle Thompson, Alain Guiraudie, Thomas Suire, Merzak Allouache, Xavier Giannoli, Marie Denarnaud, Coline Serreau, Madeleine Besson, Claude Miller, Robinson Stévenin, Jean-Marie Larrieu, Arnaud Larrieu, Claude Perron, Bruno Todeschini, Alain Corneau, Sylvie Testud, Kaori Tsuji, Taro Soua, Marina de Van, Karim Dridi, Yann Trégouët, Cédric Klapisch, Gilles Marchand, Sophie Quinton, Catherine Jacob, Morgane Moré, Karine Silla, Benoît Jacquot and Stanislas Merhar, as well as the producers of the films selected.
Jean Reno and Mathieu Amalric made their appearance later in the evening, followed by the screening of the film "Jet Lag."
