Three French films are included in the Official Competition and three in the Un Certain Regard section, as well as a total of over 20 films co-produced by France spread across the various festival programs.
The 2014 Cannes Film Festival's Official Selection was announced April 17, and, as is the case each year, French productions take the lion's share of programming in the various festival sections. Not only geographically, with three French "cultural" films selected, even if the languages spoken range from English (Clouds of Sils Maria by Olivier Assayas) to Chechen (The Search by Michel Hazanavicius), but also in terms of production partners. Eight majority or minority French co-productions feature in the Official Selection, and five in the Un Certain Regard section. More news is expected as the selection is finalized over upcoming days.
