Claire Denis's first feature, "Chocolat", was presented at Cannes in official selection in 1988. A year later, she took a detour with the documentary "Man No Run". After "S'en fout la mort" screened in Venice in 1990, Claire Denis directed the medium-length feature "Keep it for yourself" (1991) made in New York and produced in Japan, and in 1993, she directed Béatrice Dalle and Line Renaud in "J'ai pas sommeil". "Nénette et Boni", which was released in France in 1996, won the Golden Leopard award at the Locarno Festival, where Valeria Bruni Tedeschi and Grégoire Colin were also prize winners. She has also made two documentaries, "Jacques Rivette, le veilleur" in 1991 (passionate interviews between Jacques Rivette and Serge Daney, in the "Film-makers of our time" series') and "Ni une ni deux" (six portraits of Cameroonese women, for France 2). In addition, she has made two TV films," La Robe à cerceaux" and "US Go Home", broadcast in the Ima Productions and Arte series, ''Tous les garçons et les filles de leur âge'' (1994).

Her latest film " Beau travail ", which unfolds in the milieu of Foreign Legion, was presented in official selection at the 1999 Venice Festival. It also won the Special Jury Prize at the Festival of Geneva and the Louve d’Or feature award at Montreal. Claire Denis is currently shooting "Trouble Every Day" with Vincent Gallo, Alex Descas and Béatrice Dalle.
