On November 16, this year's French Cinema Tour in South Korea was launched in Seoul by the team from Back to Burgundy. Held in seven cities across South Korea, this event showcases a selection of new French films just prior to their commercial release.
Following its launch in 2016 as part of the Year of France in South Korea festivities, the French Cinema Tour is back this year for its second edition, to be held from November 16 through 29. The event is co-organized by the French Embassy in South Korea, Unifrance, and CGV (South Korea's leading exhibitor), with support from S.T. Dupont, the Hotel Shilla Seoul, Make Up Forever, Renault-Samsung, Mumm, and Marie-Claire.
Back to Burgundy will open this year's Cinema Tour, screened in the presence of Cédric Klapisch and Ana Girardot.
The French Cinema Tour offers South Korean audiences, via the CGV-Art House cinema network, the chance to discover ten French films, which are soon to be released, in seven cities across the country: Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Cheonan, Gwangju, Ori, and Daejeon.
For the distributors of these films, this initiative offers a promotional platform that enables them to raise public awareness of the films with media outlets and the public. French actors and directors attending the event will take part in media interviews and meetings with audiences.
More than 40 French films are released in South Korean theaters each year, giving audiences the opportunity to appreciate our films in all their diversity. South Korean audiences are among the most enthusiastic movie-goers in the world, with an average of 4.2 films seen per person per year.
