The crème de la crème of French and French-language cinema will be presented from November 2 through December 15, in 40 theaters across the United Kingdom during the 30th edition of the 2022 French Film Festival UK, which has become a film community institution since its inception in 1992. An online edition of the event will also be held from December 3 through 12, in partnership with Curzon at Home. Happy anniversary!
This 2022 edition of the event, which is supported notably by the Institut Français, the Alliance Française, Screen Scotland, and Unifrance, and, as always, helmed by artistic director Richard Mowe, will open on November 2 at the Ciné Lumière in London, with the UK premiere of Full Time held in the presence of director Éric Gravel.
The following special guests will also take part in the festival: Patrice Leconte for Maigret, Blandine Lenoir for Angry Annie, Charlotte Gainsbourg for Jane by Charlotte, and Wilfried Méance and Bertrand Usclat for Jumeaux mais pas trop.
Over 60 feature films will be showcased at this year's event, including 28 UK premieres, with the festival also inaugurating a new section dedicated to work by women: Femmes First.
The online edition of the festival, accessible on the Curzon at Home platform, will offer a selection of films from December 3 to 12: Both Sides of the Blade by Claire Denis, Between Two Worlds by Emmanuel Carrère, Casablanca Beats by Nabil Ayouch, Everything Went Fine by Mia Hansen-Løve and Paris, 13th District by Jacques Audiard.
In addition, the program includes a series of school screenings and short film screenings, while the 30 Extras section offers audiences an overview of the past five editions of the French Film Festival UK.
