Benoit Jacquot, Olivier Assayas, Léos Carax and Claire Denis have all been invited by American universities and films schools to come and meet their students.
Benoit Jacquot will be the special guest of 4 West Coast universities and film schools. On October 29, he presented Farewell, My Queen to students of the School of Visual Arts in New York. This will be followed by a presentation to Welleseley College students on November 6. Providence School of Design students, in Rhode Island, will see Right Now (November 5), while A Single Girl will be presented to all Boston University College students on November 8. Masterclasses, focusing on Farewell, My Queen and dealing with direction and adapting novels for the screen, will be organized for small groups of students.
Meanwhile, Claire Denis has been invited to four American universities from November 10 through 17: Indiana University in Bloomington, Emory University in Atlanta, Notre Dame University in Notre Dame, while a retrospective of nine of her films will be presented at the Walker Arts Center in Minneapolis. Denis has also been invited by the New York Film Society to give a talk with Kent Jones, Film Comment critic.
On the West Coast, Olivier Assayas will present Something in the Air to film school students at the University of Southern California on November 1 and Léos Carax will present Holy Motors to American Film Institute students on November 5.
