A Special Day dedicated to "The Fabulous Destiny of French Cinema" at Club Unifrance today!
A day of French cinema kicked off this morning with a visit from the French Minister for Culture and Communication, Jean-Jacques Aillagon. The team from "Demonlover" (Official Selection), scheduled to walk up the famous "steps" at 10.30 p.m. tonight - Chloé Sevigny, Connie Nielsen, Gina Gershon and Charles Berling - answered questions from international press representatives at Club Unifrance.
A lunch was held for French directors and the international press, with around one hundred journalists joining Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Pitof, Claire Denis, Catherine Breillat, Benoît Jacquot, Agnès Varda, Alain Chabat, Patrice Chéreau, Jean-Paul Salomé and Gérard Krawczyk. All these filmmakers and many others who have played a part in French cinema's success in France and abroad this year, including Régis Wargnier, Raoul Ruiz and Claude Miller, met up later on to make their way up the "steps" of the Palais to attend the screening of "Demonlover."
5 p.m.: A meeting was organized for Critics' Week between journalists and the director Werner Schroeter, whose latest film "Deux" was presented yesterday evening.
From 8 p.m., a cocktail supper brought together foreign distributors, sales agents and French artists, followed by the grand finale to celebrate the fabulous destiny of French cinema: a grand soirée at the Club.
