Back to School à la française: organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Unifrance, the second edition of On Set With French Cinema will give 6 French directors the opportunity to offer their "cinema lessons" to American students.
Following the success of the 2003 program, the second edition of On Set With French Cinema will be held from October 4 through November 19, 2004, in partnership with 11 American universities in the cities of New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
This year, Claire Denis, Olivier Assayas, Benoît Jacquot, Luc Besson, Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Jean-Paul Rappeneau will share their knowledge and experiences as filmmakers, directors of actors, screenwriters and even producers with students in their first, second and third years of studies at Film Schools and Film Departments at the most highly regarded universities in the United States. As was the case last year, these meetings will be incorporated as part of the university curriculum, and will offer students the chance of viewing some 30 French films prior to or during the visits of the directors selected and invited as guests by the universities.
