Bruno Dumont always wanted to make films. In the meantime, he studied philosophy, then taught, and dabbled in advertising, journalism and television. He wrote screenplays, managed technicians and learned to edit, mix and direct actors on commissioned and corporate films. In 1996, he made his first feature film, "The Life of Jesus," which won a host of awards. His second feature, "Humanity," followed in 1999, winning the Grand Jury Prize and Best Actor and Actress awards at the 1999 Cannes International Film Festival.
