Over twenty French productions and French-majority co-productions, along with a similar number of minority co-productions, will be showcased at this year's Rotterdam International Film Festival (January 22–February 2), which, as always, highlights recent independent and avant-garde works on the margins of traditional filmmaking.
Founded in 1972, the Rotterdam International Film Festival, has cemented its position over the years as a major "headhunter" for filmmakers who explore the forms and boundaries of cinema.
A key event on the movie industry calendar, this festival offers a wide range of different sections, including two competitive programs—Bright Future, which focuses on emerging filmmakers, and Voices, which this year will include the participation of the directors Ladj Ly, Mati Diop, Albert Serra, Justine Triet, Bertrand Bonello, Alice Winocour, Sophie Letourneur, and Rabah Ameur-Zaïmeche, among others, who will be in Rotterdam to present films that have already attracted acclaim at the major international film festivals.
