Around a dozen French artists will attend the 21st Berlin French Film Week, to be held from November 24 through December 1, 2021, in Berlin and several major cities around Germany, as well as online.
The Berlin French Film Week is back as a physical event this year, with the presentation of an abundant and diverse selection of titles and the presence of a large number of French artists who will make the trip to the German capital, including (to be confirmed) Catherine Corsini, François Ozon, Sophie Marceau, Bruno Dumont, Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet, Daphné Patakia, David Murgia, Karoline Rose Sun, Slimane Dazi, Yamina Benguigui, and Florence Miailhe.
From November 24 through December 1, the Institut Français in Germany, in partnership with UniFrance (and the Yorck-Kino GmbH cinema network), will be delighted to meet up once again with movie enthusiasts in theaters in Berlin and other cities around Germany for this presentation of around twenty French productions, most of which will be shown in preview screenings. Included in the lineup are titles that explore perspectives on the place of women in society and enticing musical journeys (Annette, Tralala).
The Film Week will open with a screening of The Divide by Catherine Corsini, followed by a selection of over twenty films spread across the various sections, as well as a retrospective devoted to Leos Carax.
As a side event, a series of activities for children and young people will be organized, including "Cine Afternoon Tea" events and a workshop on the subject of gender in society, held in partnership with the Franco-German Youth Office. The Film Week will also be an opportunity to reveal the virtual reality work created by eight women directors who took part in the residency program THE BRAIN 7.
A selection of films from this year's edition of the event will also be screened in Munich, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, and Erlangen, in addition to an online version of the event available via the Festival Scope platform.
