For the second consecutive year, Unifrance hit the right note by relocating the French Film Festival to provincial Russia, this time held in Nijni-Novgorod from December 5 through 7 and in Novossibirsk from December 8 through 10. The delegation present, composed of Joana Preiss, Santiago Amigorena, Frédéric Auburtin, Bruno Dumont, Nils Tavernier, and Christian Vincent, and joined by Carole Bouquet in Novossibirsk, met with great success, with audiences giving them a warm and enthusiastic reception.
Major audiences were drawn to the festival in both cities, attracted by the national premieres of the majority of titles presented. The excellent attendance figures also support current trends in this territory that indicate that movie attendance in provincial Russia is outpacing that of Moscow and St Petersburg.
Nevertheless, it was in Moscow that the French actress Carole Bouquet extended her stay in Russia to meet with enthusiastic local media representatives, who came out in large numbers on Monday, December 11 to celebrate a program of three films presented in honor of the actress in the “35 mm” theater, one of the city's art house venues.
