For its 27th edition (September 26 through October 5), Filmfest Hamburg - the third largest German film festival after the Berlin International Film Festival and Munich - International Film Festival - will present twenty French films, some of which will screen in the Voilà! strand focusing on French language films. The 2019 edition will also be the occasion of a Céline Sciamma retrospective, which the filmmaker will attend.
Céline Sciamma, accompanied by the stars of Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Adèle Haenel and Noémie Merlant, will travel to Filmfest Hamburg for the retrospective dedicated to her.
The festival will open with a screening of La Belle Epoque by Nicolas Bedos, in his presence, accompanied by Doria Tillier.
Other French artists will also travel to the event, notably Blaise Harrison for Particles and Rabah Ameur-Zaïmeche for South Terminal, a film presented in the Veto! strand, along with Alice and the Mayor by Nicolas Pariser, and a documentary Capital in the Twenty-First Century by Justin Pemberton, written by and featuring Thomas Piketty.
