Biography
Noémie Merlant is a French director and actress. As a comedian, she has worked with many prestigious directors, including Céline Sciamma (Portrait of a Lady on Fire, 2019), Jacques Audiard (Paris, 13th District, 2021), Todd Field (Tár, 2022), and more recently Audrey Diwan (Emmanuelle, 2024). In 2023, she won a César Award for Best Actress for her role in Louis Garrel's The Innocent. After directing several short films, Noémie Merlant wrote and directed her first feature film in 2020, Mi iubita mon amour, which was selected in the Official Selection, in the Special Screenings section, at the Cannes Film Festival. Her latest film, The Balconettes, in which she stars alongside Souheila Yacoub and Sanda Codreanu, was presented in the Official Selection at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, in the Midnight Screenings section.
