A prestigious delegation of French artists will accompany these ten feature films at the New York Film Festival (NYFF), which will take place from September 28 through October 14. Eleven minority-French coproductions are also included in this year's festival program.
Founded in 1963, the NYFF is a major film festival in the United States that presents a selection of titles put together by the Film at Lincoln Center, which serves as the key location for film screenings. A longstanding partner with UniFrance, the Film Society of Lincoln Center also collaborates on the Rendez-Vous With French Cinema à New York events.
In addition to showcasing the best of international filmmaking each year, the NYFF also stands out for giving avant-garde cinema and repertory films equal consideration to mainstream contemporary cinema.
A high-profile French delegation will travel to New York for the festival, with a guest list that is reminiscent of this year's Cannes Film Festival in May, including Mati Diop, Arnaud Desplechin, Bertrand Bonello, Justine Triet, Céline Sciamma (with her actresses Adèle Haenel and Noémie Merlant), Rosalie Varda, Nadav Lapid, Éric Baudelaire and Olivier Assayas. Assayas will also lead a masterclass on screenwriting during which he will describe his writing process and the transformation of a true story into a fictional work.
Mati Diop will host a "Director's Dialogue" at which she will discuss the conception of her film Atlantics: A Ghost Love Story, which was awarded the Grand Prize at Cannes this year.
