Biography
Between 1965 and 2006, Marco Bellocchio has directed 26 full-length features and several films for television. His most well-known films include « I pugni in tasca » (« Fist in his pocket » 1965), awarded at the Festival of Locarno, « Nel nome del padre » (« In the Name of the Father » 1971), « Il diavolo in corpo » (« Devil in the Flesh » 1986), « La Balia » (« The nanny » 1999) selected at the Cannes Film Festival, « L’ora di religione » (« My Mother’s Smile» 2001) which was sold in 31 countries and which won the David de Donatello, the European Film Award and a Golden Globe (Best Film), « Buongiorno Notte » (« Good Morning Night » 2003) which was sold in 25 countries (including the USA and UK) and was awarded at the Festival of Venice, at the European Film Awards (Fipresci prize) and at the “Davids de Donatello”. « Il regista di matrimoni » (« The Wedding Director » 2006) was supported by Eurimages and was selected at the Cannes Film Festival in the section « Un Certain Regard ». In 2009 « Vincere »was selected at the Cannes Film Festival official competition, and sold in several countries, « Bella addormentata » (« Dormant Beauty) » was selected at 2012 Venice Festival Official competition.
