Between 1965 and 2006, Marco Bellocchio directed 26 features and several television movies. His most famous films are, among others, Fists in the Pocket (1965), awarded the Silver Sail at the Locarno International Film Festival, Au nom du père (1971), Devil in the Flesh (1986),The Nanny (1999), selected for Official Competition at the Cannes Film Festival, and My Mother's Smaile (2001), which sold to 31 countries, was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Film in 2002, nominated for Best Director at the European Film Awards in 2002, and for Best Film at the David di Donatello Awards in 2003. En 2003, Good Morning, Night sold to 25 countries (including the United States and the United Kingdom), and received the Best Film, Little Golden Lion and Outstanding Individual Contribution at the Venice Film Festival, the Fipresci Award at the European Film Awards, and was nominated for several awards at the David di Donatello Awards. The Wedding Director (2006) was supported by Eurimages and selected for Un Certain Regard at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. In 2009, Vincere was selected for Official Competition at the aforementioned festival, and sold to many countries. His most recent film, La Belle Endormie, was selected for Official Competition at the Venice Film Festival.
