There is a dark secret in Mussolini's life that can be found nowhere on the official record: a woman, Ida Dalser, and a child, Benito Albino - conceived, recognized by the father, who then denied that the child was his.
Ida fleetingly encounters Mussolini in Trient and is dazzled by him. She finds him again in Milan, where he is a passionate socialist activist who harangues crowds and runs Avanti newspaper. Ida believes in him and his ideas. To help him finance Popolo d'Italia, the departure point for the future Fascist party, she sells all her possessions.
When war breaks out, Benito Mussolini joins the army and disappears from the young mother's life. Ida is astonished to discover that he is already married to another woman. From then on, Ida will never cease claiming her position as legitimate wife and mother of Mussolini's oldest son, but she will be systematically pushed aside and her child put into an institution.
Nevertheless, she will never give up and will continue to speak her truth for everyone to hear.
