Biography

Son of the movie makers Agnès Varda and Jacques Demy, Mathieu Demy gets his first main part in Blue Moon by Antoine Desrosières in 1993, but his performance of a young HIV positive in Jeanne and the Perfect Guy, a musical by Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau (1998) reveals him to the audience.
In 1999, he is named as one of the European Film Promotion’s Shooting Stars.
Often casted in comedies, God Is Great, I’m Not (Pascale Bailly – 2001), Les Acteurs anonymes (Benoît Cohen – 2000), The New Jean-Claude (Didier Trochet – 2001) or Our Precious Children (Benoît Cohen – 2003), he stars in 2005 in Orso Miret’s psychological drama Rules of Silence.
For the third time, Bruno Cohen directs Mathieu Demy in Qui m’aime me suive to be released in 2006.
