Biography
The daughter of singer Guy Béart and model Geneviève Galéa, Emmanuelle Béart made her screen debut at the age of 7. She rose to fame playing the character Manon des Sources in Claude Berri's film of the same name, and has worked with some of the greatest directors throughout her career, including Jacques Rivette, André Téchiné, Claude Sautet, Claude Chabrol and Brian de Palma. Her French and international filmography has earned her professional and popular recognition, but this has not prevented her from becoming involved in numerous humanitarian projects that are close to her heart. Her documentary Such a Resounding Silence (2023), co-directed with Anastasia Mikova, is her first film as a director.
