BiographyEarly attracted by acting, Sami Bouajila enters the regional drama academy of Grenoble then the Drama Center of Saint-Etienne, before playing Shakespeare, Marivaux or Koltès on stage. In 1991, he makes his debuts on screen in Money by Philippe Galland, where he plays an ambitious and resourceful teenager. In 1993, he stars in Love Affairs Usually End Badly, Anne Fontaine first movie. Two years later, Karim Dridi’ Bye-bye confirms his talent. In 1998, he is a Palestinian terrorist chased by Denzel Washington in The Siege. The same year, he works with young talents such as Jacques Maillot (Our Happy Lives) and Olivier Dahan (Pretend I’m Not Here). In 2000, Sami Bouajila meets outstanding roles in two films welcomed by the critics: an optimistic HIV positive man in The Adventures of Felix a gay road movie by Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau; an ingenuous homeless in Blame It On Voltaire by Abdelattif Kechiche. After Life Kills Me by Jean-Pierre Sinapi, Sami Bouajila keeps on widening his repertoire with Replay by Catherine Cosini and See How They Run by Michel Blanc. He easily goes from action movie (The Nest by Florent Emilio Siri – 2002) to art movies (Playing 'In the Company of Men' by Arnaud Desplechin – 2003). In 2005, he stars in Zaïna, Rider of the Atlas by Bourlem Guerdjou and will appear in 2006 in the expected Indigènes by Rachid Bouchareb alongside Jamel Debouzze and Roschdy Zem.
