The American French Film Festival (TAFFF)—the largest festival in the United States dedicated exclusively to French cinema and audiovisual works—will take place this year from November 3 to 8. The program for the 30th edition features 60 works, including 35 feature films (four of which are documentaries), 11 series, and 14 short films.
Every year in Hollywood, TAFFF brings together a selection of films screened at that year's international festivals—including Cannes, Venice, Locarno, and Annecy—with many titles having their U.S. or North American premieres. This year, 19 films will premiere before their release in France, and 18 in partnership with U.S. distributors.
All of this will take place in the presence of a large artistic delegation (announcements subject to change): filmmakers Marine Atlan, Antonin Baudry, Philippe Béziat, Savina Dellicour, Lukas Dhont, Marc Fitoussi, Vincent Garenq, Laïla Marrakchi, Hélène Rosselet-Ruiz, Pierre Salvadori, and Andreï Zviaguintsev; composer Valentin Hadjadj, actors Simon Abkarian and Raphaël Quenard; Abdel Raouf Dafri, co-creator of the series A Prophet; and Caroline de Jenlis, producer of the series Alice: Pioneer of Cinema.
The TAFFF Awards
The winners will be announced on November 8 during the closing ceremony. In addition to the Audience Awards in the film, television, and short film categories, there will be awards from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, which will present the Critics’ Award and the First Feature Film Award, as well as awards from American students and professional juries dedicated to series and short films.
The festival will also organize workshops and professional meetings for the French delegation, with the support of FCFA members (DGA, SACEM, MPA, and WGA West) and its institutional partners: the CNC, Villa Albertine, Consulat Général de France in Los Angeles, and Unifrance.
Oscar season is just around the corner!
TAFFF will feature five films chosen by their respective countries to compete for the 2027 Oscar for Best International Feature Film: Minotaur by Andreï Zviaguintsev for France, with the director in attendance, as well as Coward by Lukas Dhont for Belgium, in association with MUBI; Fjord by Cristian Mungiu, winner of the Palme d’Or at the latest Cannes Film Festival, representing Romania; All of a Sudden by Ryūsuke Hamaguchi representing Japan, in partnership with NEON; and Strawberries by Laïla Marrakchi representing Morocco.
This selection highlights the importance of French co-productions in international cinema.
