Reda Kateb

Actor, Director, Screenwriter, Voice

Represented by : Time Art

Agent : Elizabeth Simpson

From a lineage of well-read and engaged Algerians,
Reda Kateb found his own way, between legacy and emancipation (Libération, September 2013). Reda Kateb,
the son of an actor, has been immersed in theatre since childhood. At age 12 he decided to also become an actor.
He did so by reciting his great uncle’s texts, Kateb Yacine, in the “slam” style. His look and Algerian origins first confined him to supporting roles of hooligans (A Prophet by Jacques Audiard, Silent Voices by Léa Fehner or the television series Engrenages ) or even a terrorist tortured by the CIA (Zero Dark Thirty by Kathryn Bigelow). But his elegance and gentleness soon brought him more varied proposals. He then played in
a number of films at a quick pace (Lily Sometimes by Fabienne Berthaud, Coming Home by Frédéric Videau, Three Worlds by Catherine Corsini, Gare du Nord by Claire Simon, Me, Myself and Mum by Guillaume Gallienne...). Three of his last films which were presented at Cannes
this year, making him the most visible actor of the festival: Hippocrates by Thomas Lilti, Insecure by Marianne Tardieu and Lost River by Ryan Gosling. He will be seen alongside Viggo Mortensen in Far From Men by David Oelhoffen and Vincent Lindon in Les Chevaliers blancs by Joachim Lafosse. He is also thinking about directing a first short film.
