The 29th Tokyo International Film Festival will take place from October 25 through November 3 at the Roppongi Hills Cinema and other theater venues around Tokyo. One French production and three co-productions feature in the competition section, with Jean-Jacques Beineix leading the jury of the International Competition this year.
Along with Hong Kong and Busan, the Tokyo International Film Festival is one of the major film festivals in Asia, and will open its doors in the Japanese capital on October 25.
In a remarkable event for French cinema, a debut film, Derniers parisiens (photo) by Hamé and Ékoué, members of the collective La Rumeur, will be presented in competition, with the directors in attendance. The film stars Reda Kateb (who will also be present) Mélanie Laurent, and Slimane Dazi, and will be screened in a world premiere.
The lineup for the World Focus section includes two majority-French productions, Nocturama, Heaven Will Wait and Never Ever (screened in the presence of Benoit Jacquot and Julia Roy).
