A strong presence for French short films at Cannes
With nine films in the running for awards – all selections and competitions combined – French short films will be out in force on the Croisette.
This year three French productions are in the running for the Palme d’Or for Best Short Film in the Official Selection, which will be decided by a jury led by Abderrahmane Sissako on May 24, 2015.
Two other shorts have been selected for Directors' Fortnight, one being Pitchoune, the directorial debut by actor Reda Kateb (photo). Nor are Cinéfondation and Critics' Week lagging, for they too are each presenting two French films.
