    Biography

After many roles on stage, Dominique Blanc stars in the first film by Régis Wargnier, The Woman of My Life, in 1986, winning a César nomination for Best Hopeful. She quickly stands out as one of the most precious supporting players in French cinema, thanks to her collaborations with Claude Sautet, Claude Chabrol and Louis Malle, and is awarded a César for Best Supporting Role in 1991 for May Fools. At the same time, she remains faithful to Régis Wargnier (her performance in Indochina lands her a second statuette once again for Best Supporting Role in 1993) and Patrice Chéreau who had offered her many stage roles: Queen Margot in 1994 and, in 1997, Those Who Love Me Can Take the Train which entitled her to a third distinction at the Césars. Dominique Blanc equally appears in first and second films: Should Mathilde Be Loved?, directed by Edwin Baily (1993) and So There, directed by Michel Piccoli in 1997. In 2001 she receives the César for Best Actress for Roch Stephanik's Stand-By. Deeply moving in Lucas Belvaux's trilogy in 2003, she continues to be faithful to the most demanding auteur cinema (that of the Amos Gitaï or Philippe Ramos), which by no means excludes fantasy (Special Delivery, directed by Jeanne Labrune). She pushes her limits even further by playing a pathologically jealous woman in The Other One, a performance crowned with the Best Actress Prize at Venice 2008.
