The 53rd annual San Sebastián Film Festival will showcase six majority-French films and four French co-productions.
In the Official Competition, Stéphane Brizé will present "Je ne suis pas là pour être aimé," Anne Fontaine will introduce her latest film, "Entre ses mains," and Chema de la Peña and Gabriel Velázquez will accompany the Franco-Spanish co-production "Sud Express." The Zabaltegi New Directors competition features the debut feature "Sauf le respect que je vous dois," presented by its director Fabienne Godet, and "Alex," presented by José Alcala. In the Zabaltegi Festivals Top Section, Laurent Cantet will present his film "Vers le Sud," Bertrand Tavernier, "Holy Lola," Danis Tanovic, "L'Enfer," and Asoka Handagama, "A Letter of Fire" (Sri Lanka/France). The Horizontes Section includes the Franco-Argentinean co-production, "Geminis," to be presented by Albertina Carri.
The French delegation present at the event includes: Dominique Blanc, Isabelle Carré, Anne Consigny, Julie Depardieu, Anne Fontaine, Marie Gillain, Fabienne Godet, Karin Viard, José Alcala, Stéphane Brizé, Laurent Cantet, Patrick Chesnais, Georges Wilson, Benoît Poelvoorde, Marie Raynal, Lyes Salem, Danis Tanovic, and Bertrand Tavernier.
The French writer/director Claude Miller will join the competition jury this year, and will also be honored with the 12th award for European Personality of the Year, along with Claude-Eric Poiroux, which will be presented Thursday September 22 at the closing ceremony of the Cinema and Regions in Europe Day.
