Hiam Abbas on 'Palestine 36' (dir. Annemarie Jacir)

In our conversation with Hiam Abbass, she reflects on stepping into the role of Hanan in Palestine 36, a French co-production directed by Annemarie Jacir.

Set during the 1936–1939 Arab revolt against British rule, the film revisits a pivotal moment in Palestinian history through an intimate, human lens.

Premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it received a 20-minute standing ovation, it was also selected as the Palestinian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards, making the December shortlist.

Palestine 36 is now available on demand in the UK & Ireland on Curzon.
