After two editions affected by health measures due to the pandemic, the Festa do Cinema Francês returns to the big screen with even more screenings and a wider geographical scope. The festival will take place from October 26 through November 20 in ten Portuguese cities: Lisbon, Almada, Oeiras, Coimbra, Porto, Évora, Viseu, Faro, Lagos, and Funchal.
On the program: national premiere screenings, new films, a section dedicated to gastronomy, a documentary programmed in partnership with ACID, a selection specially curated for young audiences, films that have marked the previous year and that the public will be able to rediscover on the big screen, and finally encounters and Q&As with invited filmmakers.
The partnership with Nos Cinemas has also been renewed, always with the objective of reaching areas far from the major coastal urban centers.
The Tour do Cinema Francês por Portugal is the name of this special program that will be launched this year in NOS cinemas in the cities of Évora, Viseu, Faro, and Funchal.
The festival is part of this year's France-Portugal 2022 Season, an initiative that celebrates the historical bonds of friendship between the two countries.
Everybody Loves Jeanne will open the event and will screen in the presence of its director Céline Devaux and one of its cast, actor Nuno Lopes.
The following French artists will also attend the festival: Antoine Barraud, Arnaud Desplechin, Carine May and Hakim Zouhani, François Manceaux, Emma Benestan, Louis-Julien Petit, Régis Roinsard, Sylvain Prudhomme and Philippe Béziat, and Rebecca Marder.
