With four films in competition (Memoir of War, So Help Me God, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, and C'est la vie!), French cinema will make a strong showing at this year's San Sebastián International Film Festival, to be held from September 22 through 30 in the Spanish seaside town.
As was the case last year, four majority-French productions will be presented in the Official Competition at the San Sebastián Film Festival, with a special screening also held of See You Up There by Albert Dupontel.
Added to the fifteen other French titles spread across the various festival sections, that makes a total of close to twenty French productions to be screened at this event held in the Spanish Basque Country.
Agnès Varda will be in attendance (alongside her co-director JR) to accompany a screening of their film Faces, Places (Faces, Places). The filmmaker will also receive one of the three Donostia Awards presented this year, in honor of her illustrious career.
In addition to this, Thierry Frémaux will present his film Lumière! on September 23, just prior to its release in Spanish theaters.
As for the delegation representing French cinema this year, around forty French artists will travel to Spain for the event, including Bérénice Bejo, Albert Dupontel, Jean-Pierre Léaud, Olivier Nakache et Éric Toledano, Robin Campillo, Kev Adams, Robert Guédiguian, Léa Drucker, Xavier Legrand, Nahuel Pérez Biscayart, Emmanuel Finkiel, Mélanie Thierry, Benoît Magimel, Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet, Vincent Elbaz, Raymond Depardon, Thierry Frémaux, Agnès Varda and JR, Teddy Lussi-Modeste, Roschdy Zem, Marine Francen...
