With a French film to open the event (150 Milligrams) and another closing it (The Odyssey), French cinema will be at the forefront of the 2016 San Sebastian International Film Festival (SSIFF), which will be held from September 16 through 24.
Counting four majority-French productions in competition (including the opening film), France is the second most strongly represented country in this year's Official Selection, after Spain. Some twenty French movie personalities will take part in the event to support their films, several of which feature in the three competitive sections (the Official Competition, New Directors, and Zabaltegi section).
Bertrand Bonello—who, as well as presenting his film Nocturama, will introduce his short film Sarah Winchester, Ghost Opera, which was directed in collaboration with the Paris Opera—will lead a master class. Jean-Gabriel Périot will also hold a master class.
The following French actors and directors will be in attendance:

- Bertrand Tavernier for A Journey Through French Cinema
