    Jean Renoir is one of the most important French filmmakers of the 20th century. Between his first feature film, Whirlpool of Fate (1924) and his last, The Elusive Corporal (1962), he directed some forty features, the most notable of which are: Boudu Saved from Drowning (1932), The Crime of Monsieur Lange (1936), A Day in the Country (1936), Grand Illusion (1937), Judas Was a Woman (1938), The Rules of the Game (1939), The River (1951), The Golden Coach (1953) and French Cancan (1955).
