Grandpuits et petites victoires
Synopsis
October 2010. The French government wants to pass by force reforms which will raise the legal retirement age. This attack on one of the most important social benefits established for workers in France awakens various sectors of the population and people stage demonstrations throughout the country. After a stalemate, oil depots and refineries are blocked by workers. A situation of this kind has not occurred since the riots of May 1968. Without seeking it, the strikers at the Grandpuits refinery in Seine-et-Marne find themselves in the media spotlight and become the symbol and spearhead of the struggle.
Requisitioning, police charging at crowds, propaganda... the powers that be focus their fire on refinery workers to break the conflict in its entirerity, which results in creating a strong movement of national and international solidarity.
The "mutineers of Grandpuits," carried along by the enthusiasm of this huge support, both financial and moral, then lead a struggle rich with learning experiences and small victories that will remain engraved in their memories.
This film recounts the struggle from the inside, points out the lessons of the history of struggles and demonstrations and the small victories that are often minimized or forgotten. A tool for debates about social and union uprisings and struggles.
