Organized by Unifrance in collaboration with the Ambassade de France in China, the 20th French Film Panorama in China opened in Beijing on June 24, with the opening screening of The Taste of Things by Trần Anh Hùng, in his presence. Director Cédric Kahn also attended the event to present his film The Goldman Case.
Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi was the patron of the 20th French Film Panorama. This great actress and ambassador of Chinese cinema worldwide, who has collaborated with esteemed filmmakers, including Zhang Yimou, Lou Ye, Chen Kaige, Ang Lee, Wong Kar-Wai, and John Woo, was a member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival, where this year she recently presented, out of Competition, her latest film She Has no Name by Peter Chan.
Elizabeth Yang, founder and CEO of Chinese distribution company DDDream, received the Unifrance Award at the Panorama opening. DDDream has been helping to promote and distribute French films in China for many years. Thanks to DDDreams, The Young Karl Marx, Maria by Callas, and Custody have been released theatrically in China.
