Company presentation
Founded in 2011 by two longstanding collaborators, Lucas Tothe and Sylvain Lagrillère, the production company Punchline Cinéma has produced around twenty short films to date. The producing duo have taken their films to the world's most prestigious festivals, including Toronto, Clermont-Ferrand, Premiers Plans in Angers, Stockholm, Vancouver, and Locarno. In 2017, Punchline had two films nominated for César Awards: Goliath by Loïc Barché and Marlon by Jessica Palud.
Heading international coproductions, they have notably produced Matriochkas by Bérangère McNeese, which won the 2020 Magritte Award for Best Short Fiction Film.
After producing their first feature film, The Endless Days of Youth, by Cosme Castro and Léa Forest, which premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival, Punchline Cinéma have continued to make short films, while extending their activities to include documentaries. They are currently developing two feature films for theatrical release.
