The 55th Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia is taking place from October 6 through 16, 2022. French productions have been given a prominent place this year, with numerous titles showcased across the various programs, including 8 films in the Official Competition. This year for the first time, Unifrance joined forces with the festival to hold the "French Genre: Unifrance x Sitges x SoFilm" event aimed at promoting French genre films.
The "French Genre: Unifrance x Sitges x SoFilm" event was held on Friday, October 14, with the presentation of 11 projects and mood reels, 3 script readings by Spanish actors accompanied by live music, and followed by a networking cocktail reception with industry professionals (view the gallery of the photo shoot for the pitch sessions below).
Students from the ESCAC Film School in Barcelona were invited to take part in the event and vote for the best project presented.
The winner for Best Project was Diane Lecerf, for Fragile, a horror-thriller that focuses on a toxic relationship between a mother and daughter.
In 2022, for the first time, and as part of our strategy to strengthen support for the creation of French genre productions around the world, Unifrance provided assistance for the travel arrangements for a section of the artistic delegation and in the organization of this new professional operation.
