Throughout the month of November, documentary film will be in the spotlight around the world. An opportunity to (re)discover many French productions that are emblematic of the genre.
Launched in 2000 and organized by Images en Bibliothèque, the Documentary Film Month connects nearly 2300 cultural, social, and educative sites, in France and throughout the world, which present more than 1300 films.
Among the participating countries this year, we note Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, along with Indonesia, the Congo, Tanzania, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Vietnam, Egypt, and Oman.
On this occasion, recent French documentary success will be programmed, such as Swagger, Makala, School Of Babel, Thanks Boss, The Paris Opéra, Plot 35, and Faces, Places. Short films will also shine, with works by established names ( Diane Wellington, Sarah Winchester, Ghost Opera, Braguino…) and emerging talents (The Modern Skateboarding, Crossings, Vers la tendresse, Yaadikoone…). We note the preponderance of a particular genre in French cinema—animation documentary—fittingly represented this year by films like Bolero Paprika, Dark Waves, 5 Years After the War, and Madagascar, carnet de voyage.
For the latest edition, 300 sessions for younger audiences are planned and 143 themed programs have been developed around emblematic figures of the world of film (Agnès Varda, André S. Labarthe, Christophe Loizillon) or subject (the environment, the First World War...)
Each year, the Documentary Film Month is hence an opportunity for almost 150,000 spectators to discover a diversity of works through original and eclectic programs.
