Director Synopsis October 17, 1961. Heeding the call of the National Liberation Front, thousands of Algerians marched to Paris from the surrounding shanty towns where they lived, thereby defying the curfew that had been imposed on them. This peaceful demonstration would be violently repressed by the forces of law and order. 50 years later, this film highlights a truth that still remains taboo. Combining interviews and previously unseen archives, history and memory, past and present, the film retraces the different stages of these events, and reveals the strategy and methods put into place at the highest level of the state: manipulation of public opinion, systematic challenging of all accusations, lockdown on information to prevent investigations...
