The 25th edition of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), in South Korea, the most important film festival in Asia, will take place this year between October 21 and 30. In keeping with tradition, it will also host the Asian Film Market. Once again, French films have a substantial presence in this event mainly dedicated to Asian cinema.
With nineteen French features or majority-French coproductions presented this year, despite the special conditions imposed by the public health crisis, the 25th Busan International Film Festival remains a very fine edition for French cinema, with the presentation of films by François Ozon, Quentin Dupieux, Suzanne Lindon, Guillaume Brac, Samir Guesmi, and Fanny Liatard and Jérémy Trouilh, among others.
This edition, contrary to many recent and upcoming events, will be entirely "physical," without online screenings, but with limited audience numbers enforced in theaters, and with only one screening per film.
As current Covid-19 circumstances make it impossible for international artists to travel, the festival plans to organize post-screening, online discussions with the filmmakers, details of which will be announced in due course.
