Synopsis
On certain nights, deep within the abandoned coal mines of the Coron region, one can still hear the “silent cries” of the miners buried alive during Europe’s worst mining disaster—the Courrières disaster of 1906. Having returned with her family to the North, the land of her childhood, Police Captain Tess Borski thought that the Earth’s depths had closed over this wound that had shaken the working-class world of that era. Together with François Dubois, the detective leading the investigation team, they are confronted with a series of strange crimes that gradually bring that painful past back to the surface.
