Synopsis
For almost 800 years (between the 18th and 11th century B.C.), the Nuraghic people inhabited the second largest island of the Mediterranean: Sardinia. It developed complex skills, a unique architecture, the nuraghes, and transformed its landscape to such an extent that its contribution is still visible today… However, until very recently, this Sardinian civilization remained mostly unknown. In recent years, and thanks to recent technologies, incredible discoveries have been made in the field, and have finally brought to light the uncommon degree of sophistication of this forgotten island civilization… Alongside archaeologists, historians, bio-geneticists and other specialists who are carrying out new excavations and studies, this documentary lifts the veil on a major civilization of European megalithism, which has been largely underestimated until now.
Who were the Nuraghic people? How did they manage to survive and adapt on their isolated land for almost a millennium? What kind of relations did they have with the other peoples of the Mediterranean? And what caused the disparition of their culture?
