Synopsis
René Girard is one of the great thinkers of the second half of the 20th century. Conceived as a journey through his work and life, this documentary explores the many aspects of his fascinating mimetic theory. It posits that desire and imitation determine the mechanics of human behaviour, leading to mimetic rivalry and violence, and then to scapegoating. Through myths, ancient societies, religions, the history of humanity, and even up to our own time, Girard's bold and profound thinking reveals itself to us as a universal truth.
