Synopsis
A film from the Les Petits Secrets des grands tableaux collection - Season 5
One of the last frescoes painted by Domenico Tiepolo at his family's villa, dating from the time of Napoleon Bonaparte's invasion of the independent Republic of Venice, this work is a vibrant metaphor of Venice's destiny. With the carnival outlawed, gone was the carefree ambiance of the pleasure capital of Europe that partied for six months of the year in an attempt to turn a blind eye to its inexorable decline.
