Set in 1930s Arabia, Black Gold tells of the transformation that Auda, a young prince, goes through. Destined for a life of study, he finds himself at the center of a conflict arising from the discovery of oil. Obliged to take up arms, he must choose between two enemies whose idea of the future are diametrically opposed. On one hand Amar, the father who gave him life, and who is a rigid, fundamentalist sultan, and on the other hand Nesib, the seductive and devious 'father' who raised him.
