Synopsis
Sandu, a 13-year-old Gypsy boy, wants to go to Canada. It’s his only wish in life — to get away. He shares it with five other people: two women, two men and a child, all getting ready to escape as stow-aways like him. Six individuals, six lives, six destinies that inter-twine. And one desire between them: to reach the other shore, where life is better.

About
This freighter can be regarded as the symbol of the West: everything is shipshape, bar a few undesirables whose only fault is being where they shouldn’t. They have to be got rid of somehow, so that everything can be orderly again. “Stowaways”, the story of six illegal refugees, is about confinement, lack of privacy, bonds being formed and broken, terror that gives way to insanity. “Stowaways” is a film about sharing, fear and violence, but also about love. Every day we spent writing and then shooting the film, hundreds of women, men and children embarked on the same voyage. Our film is finished but the stowaways are still climbing aboard.
