Synopsis
Macário tells a stranger travelling alongside him in the train for Algarve about the tribulations of his love life. Just after starting work as an accountant in his uncle Francisco's firm in Lisbon, he fell madly in love with a young blonde, who lived in the house on the other side of the road. He made her acquaintance and immediately decided to marry her. In a most unexpected fashion, his uncle categorically opposed the wedding and chased Macário from his house. Macário managed to make his fortune in Cape Verde and finally got his uncle to agree to the marriage. It was then that he discovered his fiancée's eccentricities.
